Bearings are critical components in mechanical equipment, and their quality directly affects the performance of both individual parts and the entire machine. The vast majority of rolling bearings are lubricated with grease. During operation, frictional resistance causes continuous wear and eventual failure of the bearing; the choice of grease and lubrication method significantly influences the extent to which friction and wear can be reduced. Consequently, lubrication technology has become an essential part of bearing technology—some even refer to grease as “the fifth component of a bearing” (the other four being the inner ring, outer ring, rolling elements, and cage).
