The requirements for lubricating grease used in the sliding contacts of electronic switches are the same as those for other sliding mechanisms: sufficient oil-film strength, an appropriate high–low temperature range, and strong adhesion at the fixed contact points. A special requirement is that the grease must prevent the formation of abrasive debris. Such debris can give rise to two problems: first, during switch contact, it may interrupt the current flow, increasing the likelihood of sudden “microvolt” (mV) voltage drops; second, when the switch opens, conductive wear particles can remain in the circuit, maintaining a closed path that should have been broken. In either case, switch performance will be compromised—and in extreme situations, safety hazards may even arise. Therefore, a lubricant that effectively prevents both wear and arc formation is essential: contact lubricating grease. This type of grease features high oil-film strength, a wide operating temperature range, excellent oil-film retention, effective arc extinction, and extended contact life.
